SUMMER CAMP

On-Site Supervisor / Programs Tailored to the Kids / Workshops /Play Based Learning

Spend your summer days creating, exploring & innovating with us at Work & Tot Camp!

Work & Tot was created for parents by a parent as a space that helps adults thrive in their careers while providing a nurturing environment for their kids under supervision of our carefully vetted tutors & play-educators.

— SUMMER CAMP —

KIDS ARE ACCEPTED ON ROLLING BASIS WHILE THERE IS SPACE

Work & Tot’s - Summer Camp includes a roster of carefully curated workshops, skill building activities & play based learning tailored specifically to the kids in attendance. Access to the co-working space is complimentary for the parent who wishes to stay & work.

We believe in curiosity led approach to make learning both engaging and fun for the kids. During each unique workshop kids will either master or refine a new skill, explore how to think big, gain valuable skills and have fun while socializing with their peers. Our program is designed to accommodate individual needs of every child enrolled.

OUR APPROACH

  • Our camps tap into child’s innate sense of curiosity, wonder & desire to explore

  • Each daily program offers extraordinary opportunities for kids to learn, create, connect & problem solve

  • We build our daily curriculum around one big skill building workshop & incorporate carefully curated roster of indoor & outdoor activities, challenges, trivia & mini workshops that combine fun & learning to round out the day

By keeping our group size small, offering only 9 spots per day, we are able to adjust & reconfigure our activities & approach as we gauge kids response, taking into account factors such as their mood, energy level, age & number of kids enrolled for the day.

We approach each day with a mission to give kids the tools & the confidence they need in order to tackle life’s many challenges. We believe that kids learn best while having fun, so by helping them tap into their ability to create through art, explore through science/engineering & communicate through mixed media crafts we open up opportunities for them to learn without it feeling like “work”.

Each day, kids will also gain invaluable experience working in teams as they are challenged to problem solve through a series of entrepreneurship workshops as they learn essential life skills all the while forming real-world connections that will benefit them in life & school long after the camp ends.

THEME OVERVIEW - JUNE/JULY - ART

JUNE/JULY: Exploration through Art & Visual Literacy

Throughout June & July we will learn about art as a tool of communication, creation, marketing & world affairs. We will travel through time & visit civilizations of past & present as we discover artists & learn techniques long forgotten from cave painting to pour painting. We will teach kids about visual storytelling & we will help them grow in confidence as they discover how to embrace the many ‘oh-oh’s’ in order to create something truly extraordinary.

For the workshop portion of the day, throughout the month, we will go beyond just learning different techniques & creating art on paper & canvas. We will explore & create multimedia art, guerrilla art, photography, stop motion animation, culinary arts & more. We will explore how science fits into art, that includes making our own dyes from flowers, plants & spices, we will explore photosynthesis as a tool to make art, & we will discover crossroads between food & art. When we go outdoors, we will also look to nature not only as a source of inspiration but as a tool to help us create, that includes learning to paint trees with tree branches & use leaves & grass for printmaking & more.

We firmly believe that kids need more art, because through the process of creating, kids learn a vast number of essential skills. These skills include problem solving, learning to embrace difference of opinion, learning to collaborate, growing in confidence & gaining ability to view mistakes as opportunities to excel.

Throughout the month, we will explore impact of art on our world & civilizations & how art was used to tell stories about the past, present & the future breaking language & class barriers along the way. We will teach kids to conduct their own, age-appropriate, research & present their findings on artists & art, as they learn the tools needed to effectively present & communicate their ideas to their peers.

THEME - AUGUST - STORYTELLING & Theater

AUGUST: The Art of Story Telling

Throughout August, we will focus our curriculum on getting kids ready for school, while having fun as they learn to tap into their innate sense of curiosity in order to make some grand discoveries. Together we will explore the many wonders rooted in the world of fact & fiction as kids gain new skills that will help them become confident & engaging story tellers & communicators. Kids will learn tips & tricks needed to organize their thoughts & create engaging stories, all the while forming crucial bonds & connections in a supportive environment.

Throughout camp kids will learn about public speaking & practice asking inquisitive questions as they master the art of giving & taking constructive criticism in a small group setting. Together we will travel through time & space & explore the role stories played throughout history, civilization & cultures to create hope, inspire, teach, warn, sway opinion or simply entertain. We will step into the world of theater & make believe & learn to communicate stories with passion and conviction. We will explore the difference between fact & fiction, as we create plays, make books & form our own civilizations, currency & governance through play based approach. We will play games & set up scavenger hunts that will teach kids the art of critical thinking & teamwork.

Month of August will introduce kids to many exciting, diverse, new workshops. Kids will be invited to go on archeological digs, make pottery, create mini plays, make puppets, learn to bind books & explore wonders of science rooted in our past & the future. Kids will also get to build miniature pyramids, create bridges, design societies of the future & more. We will learn important lessons from civilization from our past & our present. As we venture outdoors, we will look to nature as guardians of our past and explore the history of our community, and imagine what this community will be like 10, 50, 100 years from now.
